You may be aware that there is a crisis in GP recruitment due to a national shortage of GP's as well as the effect of years of underfunding.  We are keen to keep our appointment system under review to ensure that our patients have access to the care they need.  To this end, our team may enquire as to the nature of your problem in order that they can direct you to the quickest and most appropriate service.

Open Surgery

We have listened to your concerns regarding access and in response have increased the number of available appointments.

Open Surgery starts at 8:30am Monday to Friday. You can book in on the day from 8am at the front desk only.  This is not a pre-bookable service and runs on a first come first served basis.

There are 28 appointment slots available during Open Surgery as there is a limit to the number of patients we can see safely.  As time is limited the GP's are unable to deal with multiple problems during this clinic.

Pre-Booked Appointments

To make a routine appointment, or if you have an URGENT medical problem, please telephone reception. Our receptionists will then ask you to outline your need to ensure that you see or speak to the right person.  They may suggest a Pharmacist, Practice Nurse, GP telephone appointment or a GP face to face appointment. There is a designated Duty Doctor available everyday to deal with emergencies.

Pre-bookable appointments are released for 2 weeks in advance everyday at 12pm.

For our patients with long term conditions, we have appointments available with the Practice Nurse.

Extended Hours Surgery

Extended Hours surgeries are available for those who find it difficult to attend during normal working hours. Appointments are available Tuesday and Wednesday morning between 07.30 - 08.30. Appointments for these surgeries must be booked in advance.

Telephone Consultations

You may have a query that you feel does not require a face-to-face appointment. The receptionist will ask you for details of the problem to allow the doctor to prepare and to ensure that it is an appropriate problem to be dealt with by telephone. These appointments are also pre-booked and typically run from 2pm – 2:30pm or during extended surgery.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the appointment to someone else in need.

Please be aware of our Missed Appointments Policy
